During my time as the main artist at the Crazy Panda company on the Stellar Age project, I tried different directions of creating content for this game. One of these areas is the creation of icons based on a clearly defined style in the game. The icons for the project required quite a lot, as the genre of the game suggested. I tried to get into this style, while observing the laws of creating a good icon, such as the readability of details and the power of the large-scale reduction and contrast differences from other similar icons. In this post, I have attached some created icons for the project.
Quantum Computation Module icon:
Here I designed the Quantum Computing Module object for the icon by creating a 3D model, rendered it and outlined it in Photoshop.
Resources debris icons:
Here I have drawn 3 icons of space debrises of resources, according to the type of previously created resource icons.
Bust resources points:
My task here was to show the acceleration of the collection of debrises of resources in space. I have created 3D models of similar robots that collect specific resources. Then I made render passes in a keyshot and outlined the resulting mix in Photoshop. Some of the "trash from the details" corresponds to the style of the icons in the game.
Spaceship icons:
I created the icons of the improved spaceships based on the rendering of models from Unity, of course, the models were not created by me. The style of the icons was dictated by previously created ship icons.
Some icons:
These icons are for various acceleration and magnification of game entities. It doesn't make sense to describe each one.
